Thermo King is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in advancing our North America Trailer Platform. In this role, you will collaborate crossfunctionally across multiple regions and work closely with our global manufacturing facilities, dealerships, and customers. You’ll take the lead in delivering major New Product Development programs that achieve critical performance and Quality/Cost/Delivery targets, while also shaping how new technologies meet evolving market needs. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to influence product direction, support Q&R, Sustaining, and VAVE engineering teams, and partner with functions such as Product Management, Manufacturing, and Field Service.

Where is the work:  

From Monday to Thursday, work onsite with your colleagues in Minneapolis, MN. On Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires  

 

 

What you will do: 

  • Generate, evaluate, analyze, and develop design concepts for structural components and assemblies (sheet metal, weldments, castings, stampings, etc.) to meet new product requirements provided by Product Management.

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of engineering designs, drawings, dimensioning / tolerancing scheme, documentation and BOMs.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with various Engineering support groups to develop technical management plan with mitigation plan for technical risks.

  • Match existing and new technologies to market needs and opportunities.

  • Support Program Management Office in the development and execution of project and resource plans, or in the case of smaller scale projects, the Senior Platform Engineer will be responsible to develop, maintain and execute these plans.

  • Ensure that DFMEA and DVPR processes are adhered to.  Ensure Laboratory and field testing activities adhere to our product development processes.

  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional (Test lab, Manufacturing Engineering and Operations, Finance, Quality, Procurement, Service, etc.), cross-business unit Design Engineering and Manufacturing groups, and key suppliers to meet project deliverables.

  • Multi-region travel up to 5% may be required.
     

What you will bring: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 6-years experience in engineering or product development is required.

  • Background in structural design, analysis, GD&T, and development required. Experience with structural design on industrial equipment would be an advantage.

  • Experience with manufacturing principles including Design for Manufacturing expected. Knowledge of sheet metal, weldment, stamping, casting/machining manufacturing processes is preferred.

  • Experience with structural analysis software preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and lead multiple projects. History of delivering programs that meet QCD targets.

  • Pro/Engineer or Creo proficiency preferred and Windchill PLM is an advantage.
     

Compensation:   

Annual Pay Range:  $100,000 – 138,000
