Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled and seasoned Senior Lab Automation Engineer to join our Lab Automation team. In this critical role, you will provide technical leadership spanning project planning, implementation, and ongoing support. The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced expertise in SCADA systems, software development, and industrial hardware integration. You will deliver strategic direction to lab management and work collaboratively with the lab engineering team to maintain alignment with current and emerging standards.
Where is the work:
- On-Site (5 days) in our Tyler, Texas location.
What you will do:
- Implement SCADA solutions that adhere to Lab Automation team standards.
- Provide technical leadership of engineering lab test facility automation projects.
- Provide technical support to engineering lab test facilities by diagnosing and resolving issues with both hardware and software platforms.
- Work with all lab teams effectively for sustainment or development of lab test facilities.
- Develop detailed design documents and/or functional requirement specifications for automated SCADA solutions, ensuring they are cost-effective, well-documented, scalable, and aligned with established Lab Automation team standards.
- Operate with minimal supervision.
- Oversee and coordinate the efforts of industrial automation contractors.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or related degree plan.
- At least 5 years of work experience in industrial automation and/or control systems.
Key Competencies:
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, VB.NET, Java, or Python.
- Proficiency in object orientation and the software development life cycle.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with basic electronics.
- Knowledge of at least one industrial automation hardware platform (e.g., National Instruments, Allen Bradley, Modicon, General Electric).
- Experience programming industrial automation PLC/PAC software (e.g., LabVIEW, Rockwell Automation CompactLogix, MicroLogix, General Electric Proficy ME).
What you will bring:
- Proficiency in using the Ignition SCADA platform.
- Understanding of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with embedded systems.
- Experience with laboratory testing standards and methodologies (e.g., AHRI, UL, ANSI, ISO17025).
- Knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS).
- Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma concepts, principles, and toolsets.
Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $85,000-135,000
