Job Summary: 

The HR Generalist/Recruiter will be responsible for the local delivery and execution of core HR services to employees and managers in accordance with Trane Technologies principles, corporate policies and procedures, and manufacturing operations.   In this role you will own the entire hourly recruiting process within the Grand Rapids manufacturing facilities utilizing deep networking and sourcing skills to identify passive candidates, establish strong partnerships with hiring leaders, and deliver a positive candidate experience.  You will perform a variety of employment related functions for the ultimate purpose of enhancing employee engagement, productivity, and ensuring employee compliance with company policies.  This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruiting, employee relations, performance management, policy implementation, affirmative action and employment law compliance.

Where is the work:  

This position has been designated as On-Site at our Grand Rapids, MI plant. 

What you will do: 

  • Execute full life cycle recruiting from candidate attraction through onboarding. Partner with HR and hiring leaders to develop recruitment strategies, demand plan, understand position requirements, set expectations, and maintain communications throughout the hiring process.

  • Creatively source and attract diverse internal and external candidates through referrals, social media, networking, niche resources, etc.

  • Conduct phone screens, provide candidate assessments, recommend viable candidates to hiring managers for future consideration, lead / facilitate candidate interview feedback session.

  • Effectively build talent communities and candidate pipelines.

  • Contribute to the growth of the organization by being a creative problem solver, helping to implement new processes and improving standard processes to deliver quality results.

  • Manage all candidate communications and information to ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the Talent Acquisition process including keep warm strategy.

  • Functions as an HR Generalist providing HR counsel to business management teams; responsible for support in execution of HR strategies and programs that support business and corporate goals.

  • Engages in overall talent practices including workforce planning, success profiling, on-boarding, talent development and management, retention, and engagement programs.

  • Partners with team on onboarding employees; provides tools/resources to new employees on culture, company, and groups.

  • Gathers, analyzes, and interprets HR related data for report generation and management decision making, links HR action plans with business needs.

  • Creates positive change through coaching, counseling, and influencing skills.

  • Monitors employee climate to identify issues/trends; counsel managers on identifying issues and implementing corrective actions, while also seeing opportunities to increase engagement.

  • Works with managers to address employee relations issues, such as allegations, complaints, or other concerns brought up from employees.

  • Demonstrates awareness of the cross-cultural impact of HR processes, coaches’ managers on the positive impact of a progressive, diverse, and inclusive work environment.

  • Learns and applies knowledge of customer and business matters and links to role in HR.

  • Regularly participates in business discussions and decisions with managers.

  • Works with local management team to develop and implement engagement and retention plans.

 

What you will bring: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field required

  • A minimum of 3 years’ recruiting experience.

  • Strong candidate assessment and in-person/virtual interviewing skills required, including ability to effectively evaluate candidate’s visibility for organization fit and fulfillment of position requirements.

  • Preferred past experience in a plant environment, strongly preferred

  • Experience with a broad HR Generalist skill, including employee relations, local and federal law knowledge.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in a professional, positive, courteous manner at all times with all levels of customers, clients, vendors, visitors, and employees.

  • Detail-orientated, organized, with a strong sense of urgency.

  • Ability to work independently and/or collaboratively with a team, with excellent project management.

  • Self-motivated with ability to establish priorities and effectively manage multiple tasks.

  • Preferred experienced and knowledge in HRMS and other HR Systems, PeopleSoft experience a plus.

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft software: Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Percentage of Travel: 5%

 

Compensation:    

Base Pay Range: $ 70,000 to $88,000
