Job Summary:

The primary role of the Facilities Controls Technician III is to assist in the build and support of facilities and sub-systems for Laboratory Test facilities that support product development for Commercial Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (CVHAC) Products.  This role requires strong competency in problem solving, troubleshooting, organization and collaboration and works closely with engineering and other lab personnel to complete projects. Lab team members must value safety and diversity in all aspects of their work.

Core Job Responsibilities (others may be added):

•    Specify, install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair the following devices and systems:
    o    Fieldbus devices and systems
    o    Sensors
    o    Relay logic
    o    Instrumentation and process controls
    o    AC and DC motors, controls, and drives
    o    Motion control systems
    o    Safety systems
•    Perform programming, basic design, and troubleshooting of the following devices and systems:
    o    Programmable logic controller (PLC’s)
    o    Human machine interface (HMI’s)
    o    Variable frequency drives (VFD’s)
    o    Motion control systems
    o    Instrumentation and process controls
•    Read, interpret, and create schematics, understand documentation principles at advanced level.
•    Study blueprints, manuals, or other specifications to determine installation or system modification procedures.
•    Identify, specify, and order parts for new installation or replacement.
•    Lead the development of detailed design documents or functional requirement specifications.
•    Lead the development of lab or test processes and procedures
•    Lead continuous improvement activities such as 5S and implementing Lean principles

Minimum Qualifications:

•    Associate degree in electromechanical technology or related technical discipline and at least 5-7 years of work experience in industrial facilities or lab test operations.  Experience may be substituted for the degree requirement where 10+ years of relevant technical rigor.
•    Industrial Maintenance Certificate is a plus.

Key Competencies:

•    Experience working with Allen Bradley PLC’s and supporting controls devices.
•    Proficiency with Autodesk products (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and Inventor) is preferred.
•    Ability to read, write, understand, and interpret schematics and manuals.
•    Strong industrial electronic and mechanical background.
•    Good working knowledge of hand and power tools.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and Outlook) required, with desire to learn basic programming in Visual Basic.
•    Flexibility to work outside of normal office hours as required supporting testing functions and product development needs as required.
•    Must be safety-minded and adhere to PPE requirements, as required
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interface effectively with engineers and vendors. 

Additional Comments:

•    May frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with provided machinery and personnel.
•    Up to 20% overnight travel required during the first year for training.  Less than 10% travel subsequent.
